About Daniel
Daniel Koh is one of the founding partners of ELDAN LAW LLP. Daniel graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Law Faculty in 1993 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1994. He was lead oralist in the NUS Jessup Moot Team in 1993 and Captain of the NUS Debates Team. He was also awarded the NUS Law Faculty Advocacy Shield. He also graduated from Columbia University in 1997 with a Masters of Law degree as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for superior academic performance.
Daniel is the Editor of the Law and Practice of Injunctions in Singapore published by Sweet and Maxwell and had also co-authored the chapters on Employment Law and Intellectual Property Law.
Daniel also lectures and teaches at the Post-Graduate Practice Law Course conducted by the Board of Legal Education, as well as the National University of Singapore Law Faculty.
Areas of Practice & Experience
Daniel's main areas of practice are commercial litigation and arbitration and intellectual property law including sports and entertainment law. He has been engaged as lead counsel in cases at the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal as well as international arbitrations administered by the ICC and the SIAC.
In this regard, Daniel has acted for MNCs, public listed companies, developers and contractors. He has argued cases concerning construction disputes, IT contracts and international joint venture agreements.
He has also rendered advice to National Sports Associations, conducted workshops for the Singapore Sports Council and represented former National Sportsmen in product endorsement deals. More recently, he represented National Bodybuilder Sasikumar in successfully reversing a ban based on alleged doping charges.
He has also advised major players in the entertainment industry in Singapore and has experience in artiste management agreements and production agreements. He represents several intellectual property rights holders. In 2005, he had represented Virtual Map Pte Ltd in its successful action against NTUC Income Co-operative for downloading the former�s digital raster maps, without consent and payment of a licence fee. He had also represented a security technology company TJ Systems Pte Ltd in a successful court suit against an employee of a rival company for defamation carried out on the internet.
Daniel is also active in insolvency related work and has represented the Liquidator of Kaki Bukit Industrial Park Pte Ltd in a successful court suit against former directors of the company who had siphoned monies in excess of $100 million from the company.
